Aw, did someone get offended by a rape analogy? Fucking christ, what a bunch of cry babies.
How is being offended by a fucking rape analogy being a “cry baby”?? You’re just being a dick.
It’s a legitimate analogy to make. The original person, despite being a libertarian, made a solid point. It’s an example of coercion. But because someone dared use the word rape, somehow a bunch of people get upset of it. This is pathetic in my view.
I’m just going to reiterate Katherine’s words: “Someone is being a “cry baby” because they don’t want to be reminded of what is commonly a traumatic experience?”
I’m sure it isn’t that hard to think of a better analogy which doesn’t invoke what could very well be one of the most traumatic experiences someone will ever go through.
I can’t speak for other victims but for me, it’s really not about being reminded of the event. Economics is not rape. You’re trivializing a very serious issue by comparing it to anything other than itself. We already live in a world where victim blaming is rampant, rape is widespread, and the whole thing isn’t really considered “that big of a deal.” It is, let me tell you. Rape can destroy entire lives. When you trivialize rape, you hurt victims and contribute to a societal mindset that creates more victims.
